A Home for Meditation in Nature

We are Nature, An Ecodharma Retreat in Italy with David Loy, Sept 25-30, 2022

Ecodharma is a combination of caring for ecological issues (eco) through the teachings of Buddhism and related spiritual traditions (dharma).

The first Ecodharma retreat in Italy led by David Robert Loy, professor, writer and Zen teacher, will take place at the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute from the evening of September 25 (meeting day) to September 30, 2022.

During the retreat we will explore our interconnection with the Earth, our mother and teacher, and work on Ecodharma practices and the meaning of EcoSattva.

In Nature our thoughts become clearer, our hearts freer, our minds more alert. The balance and harmony of the natural world encourage us to connect with our authenticity: in Nature we re-orient our awareness of who and what we are. We go straight to our essence; we realise that we do not need anything else.

Professor Loy encourages us to embark on the path to becoming a bodhisattva/ecosattva, focusing on three crucial aspects: practising in nature, exploring the ecological repercussions of Buddhist teachings, and realising this understanding in the eco-activism to which we are called today.

Our interdependence with the Earth means that we cannot pursue our well-being at the cost of its well-being. When the Earth’s ecosystems become sick, so do our bodies and societies.
